Thanks so much for visiting us here on our blog. 🙂
We are a family of four that recently moved out to the country, and decided to start a little farm!
A little about our family…
My name is Sarae, (Family, and people that find my name impossible to pronounce, call me Rae) and I am the Mama bear of the farm! I am a lover of all things animals, and have been for as long as I can remember. If I am not hanging out with one of my animals, than you can usually find me taking care of my two adorable human babies, working on land-lording tasks for our apartments, doing hair for my amazing clients, blogging/vlogging, or needle felting for my Etsy shop! Plus you know, cleaning, and cooking, and organizing, and all the other good stuff that adults have to do each day. 😉
Ever since I was a little girl, I loved, and wanted to have ALL the animals…. my parents allowed me to have lots of little critters, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, fish, gerbils, and even some rats and mice at one point!! (much to my mom’s dismay) I also had a cat, and a dog growing up, but never had any farm animals. (much to MY dismay) haha! My parents used to tell me that I had better marry a man that either loved animals as much as I do, or at least a man that doesn’t mind me having animals. Weeeeelll, I definitely didn’t find someone who is as crazy about all things fluffy and adorable as I am, (which is probably GOOD because I’d probably….no definitely… hit animal hoarder status.) BUT he is pretty darn good about letting them be a part of our lives, and even helps care for them here and there! I got lucky with this guy for sure. 🙂
This awesome guy’s name is Aaron, and he is the Papa Bear around here. Aaron works hard every week day at an engineering/architecture company, and on his days off he is usually busy helping me with never ending house/animal projects, (thanks love ❤️) researching and planning for ALL the investment opportunities you could ever imagine were possible… and then some…, riding around on the four wheeler or getting stuck in mud pits with our tractor, playing with our kiddos, and usually, I can even catch him snoring on the couch at some point during a busy day. 😉
Our baby bears consist of one crazy smart, cute, bound to be a lawyer, 5 year old daughter named Honor June, and a super silly, incredibly sweet almost 3 year old son named Jesse, who will probably either be a wrecking ball operator, or a race car driver if he gets his way.
Together we make one crazy family that lives on 3 acres in upstate NY, with neighbors that probably think we are insane, because we are, but hey, life is short, and I love goats so…. 🤷♀️
About those goats…
So guys, wanna know a secret? …. I wanted a horse. Like, REALLY bad, and everyone thought I was crazy… except my other horse crazy friends of course. Cause were in this together. (You know who you are…🤜🏻🤛🏻) and I tried hard to convince my hubby, I really did! But in the end, he convinced me that now was not the best time in our lives to add a horse, and as much as I hated to admit it, he was right… for several reasons!
But a few months later, I came back at him, and said, “so what about goats??” … I don’t give up ya’ll…
I really wanted farm animals, and I really wanted to try and be more self sufficient. Lucky for me, Aaron really likes goats too, so it was an easy sell.
Just a few short weeks later, I brought home my first two goaties! Pepper corn and Peachy Keen, and have since added even more. It has been SO much fun. I love our goats more than I could have imagined, and I am so excited to breed them and have our first babies here on the farm this year. Plus, babies means MILK! Our own fresh and amazing goat milk!
It’s safe to say that I have found a new passion, that I always kinda knew was there, but I am finally in a place in my life where I can actually experience it, AND I get to share the experience with my kids, which is truly a blessing.
My wish is to share this passion and joy with you all, so that if you’re on the edge of trying dairy goats, or small scale farming yourself, you may also decide to take the leap into a more self sufficient, and super fulfilling lifestyle, and I’ll be here to help and support your journey!
Its a lot of work, I’ll admit, but it is SO worth it! 😊
